Small company "Tasty Foods"

Tasty Foods is a small company which was established in 1972. Basically it is a family business which produces bakeries in very cheap prices from 5 to 25 pence to multiple retailers. The company operates in three-shift, five days a week. There are 152 employees who earn 12% of total sales. As senior manager explained the company had never suffered any serious strikes or other disturbance, although it is continuous cause of concern. In this report we will try to investigate the problem and give recommendations. First of all, we designed a questionnaire for the personal department to collect more information about the company and to be able to describe the variables. After that we were able to state which variables are qualitative and which ones are quantitative. Also which ones are discrete and continuous. We coded the given data to help us to do further data’s analysis. Of a grouped frequency distribution: the length of service, the age of employees and for the level of salary we made charts to make it more visual and provided interpretations of our findings. After that we had constructed tables of the qualification which Tasty Foods Ltd employees have and days of absent. Also constructed table of contingency for the age and salary to find out how salary depends on age. Furthermore, we calculated a mean, median and standard deviation value for the first 10 and 20 items of the “Age”. Using characteristics of distributions (values within which 68 percent, 95.5 percent and 99.7 percent of the items) we had critically compared the two sets of data. Also for the “Service” and “Age” we had estimated the 25th, 50th and 75th percentiles. At the end we advised which additional information might be extracted of this data.
