Modern means of communication

INTRODUCTION
People engaged in trade with foreign countries have to use various means of communications: telephone conversations, personal contracts (meetings, business talks), letters, telexes, telegrams, telecopiers (facsimilies).
Telephone is the quickest way of communication and is most frequently used under pressure of time, also within the country. Important telephone conversations are to be confirmed by letter to provide legal evidence of the deal. In business letters the ideas-must be expressed in short sentences, one should use words everybody understands and avoid unnecessary words and phrases. Business letters are usually written on printed company forms which give the name of the company, its address, the telephone, telex and fax number.
Telegrams sent with the help of the teleprinters (teletypes) are called telexes. Telexes are mostly used for information which is urgent for you to have or to pass. The telex system provide a 24 - hours service. The usual telegrams are sent by telegraph by means of wire. There are also cablegrames, which are sent by means of cable (laid underground or on the ocean bottom). Telecopiers or telefacses transfer important messages and printed material (drawings, diagrams, offers, price - lists) which the parties have to study. Telecopier (telefacs) is coping machine, connected to another similar copier through the telephone network.
Nowadays new forms of business communication appear, such as teletexts and videotexts. All these modern means of communication help people in their business activities.
The Internet, a global computer network is also used in business communication. Information sent over the Internet takes the shortest path available from one computer to another. The Internet may provide with a reliable alternative to the expensive and unreliable telecommunication systems. The most popular Internets service is e - mail.
