The role of inter-cultural communications for my career in the 21st century

Everyday we are communicating with our family members, colleagues in work, friends, unknown people in shop, bus or street. This is so natural and essential in our everyday life that usually we start to think about importance of communicating only when misunderstandings occur.
How to change that? In my opinion - the only one way is to follow this field and to learn from information you get. It’s really not so complicated as it was some years ago. Nowadays anyone can find plenty of books about ways of communication, differences between women and men, about misunderstandings between people and reasons of that, about inter-cultural communication.
The last one (intercultural communication) becomes more and more important. Why is it so? Because world today is characterized by an ever growing number of contacts. This is because of business, military cooperation, science, education ( it becomes like fashion to study abroad), massmedia, entertainment, tourism. Also because of immigration brought about by labor shortage or political conflicts.That’s why, I think, every one of us should be interested to know as much as possible about differences between cultures. After all every of them are unique with own values, non-verbal language signs, which can be so unlike in your native country, traditions, customs, norms, beliefs, thoughts, experiences passing from one generation to another, ways of interaction and so on. So if you don’t want to be rude and to put an affront upon other person or if you want to understand why he is doing ant talking not like you- you should not only know that his culture is different, but also you should try to understand and accept people from other backgrounds.
