Apple cultivation and storage in Lithuania

ABSTRACT

Since I was a child, my family has always grown apples because they are one of the most

widely grown fruits in Lithuania. Non-commercial apple growing is also not difficult, so every

resident can easily grow their own apples during the summer. As a result, both my

grandparents and parents grew apples, which helped me to understand how widespread apple

cultivation is in Lithuania. Therefore a result of this, I will discuss in my work today how

Lithuanians cultivate apples, including the techniques they employ and the rushes they use.

Since apple farming is not extremely common in Portugal, it should be interesting for the

professors who will be reviewing my presentation.

INTRODUCTION

Apples are the most popular seed fruits in Lithuania. The most popular apples grown in

Lithuania are "Šampion", "Rubin", "Alva", and "Auksis". The choice of apple varieties is

quite large, hence if you want to start growing apples, you will find the apple varieties you

want perfectly, each variety has advantages and disadvantages, some varieties are more

resistant to diseases, and others are more resistant to spring frosts. But it should be

remembered that to grow apples of the highest quality, all varieties should be sprayed against

diseases and pests, if we do not do this, we may lose the marketable appearance of the apple.

To grow apples of the highest quality, you need to pay attention to all factors, from apple

selection to storage conditions.

The purpose of the work: To introduce the cultivation of apples and their storage.

Work tasks:

1. To analyze the selection and planting of apple varieties,

2. To provide information about the influence of storage technologies on the chemical

composition of fruits and vegetables,

3. Review the storage of apples.
