Comparing education system in Lithuania to education in other countries

There are billions of children who go to school every day. Every country in the world has an education system, but each system is different and peculiar. Today I am going to talk about Lithuania’s education system and compare it with education system in US and in Finland.
These days education is compulsory in each country that I mentioned. In Lithuania children start school at the age 6-7. Every student has an opportunity to get primary and secondary education and later students choose to continue their studies or get a profession and go to work. Students are going to a primary school (1-4 grade) first, then they are going to the secondary school (5-8 grade) and after the 8th grade students choose to go to the gymnasium (9-12 grade) or go to the vocational and technical school. If a student wants a higher education, then he/ she can go to the university. Also if a student wants to get higher education, he/she must pass 2 exams and one of them has to be an exam of native language (Lithuanian). There are 2 types of schools in Lithuania: state schools, private schools and vocational schools. There are many similarities and little differences between Lithuania’s and US’s education systems. Talking about types of schools in US, there are much more of them: state schools, private schools, boarding schools, single-sex schools, religion schools, vocational school and etc. Children in US start school at the age 6-7 too and there are similar stages of schools like in Lithuania. They have elementary schools (1-5 grade), middle schools (6-8 grade) and high schools (9-12 grade). To graduate school, students in US have to pass standardized tests (ACT) which include English, mathematics, reading, writing and science reasoning knowledge skills’ testing.
