The Bible

The Bible is the collection of the sacred books that were written through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit and recognized by the church. The name came from the Latin “biblia” and is the transcription of the neutral plural Greek. The Greek word means “The Books”. The Bible books are divided into Old and New Testaments. The Old Testament consists of the books written before Christ’s coming. The New Testament is written after the Christ’s coming.
The New Testament is the part of the Christian religion scripture that tells us the history of how the church was created. It was written from 40 C.E. to 100 C.E. It consists of 27 books. The New Testament consists of four sections: Gospels (Mathew, Luke, Mark, John), Pauline Epistles (13 books), Catholic Epistles (8 books), Miscellaneous (2 books). The four Gospels: Mark, Matthew, Luke, and John, are the basis of the belief of the Christian world, it is like the Pentateuch of Moses for Judaism. In these Gospels it is told the coming of Messiah- Jesus Christ, his life, teaches and works, what was predicted even in the Old Testament. The prophet Isaiah in one of his visions he saw the coming of the Son of God as a human (Isaiah 9:5-7). However, this important figure wasn’t a human king, who the Israelites had been waiting for. He a spiritual king, who didn‘t want to command people and fight against Roman Empire, but he was, as Paul the apostle wrote, the church body‘s head (1Corinthians 12:27). It is the understanding of the leadership of the Divinity that stands for the Christ’s spiritual leadership. Later Christ’s work was continued by the apostles.
