Why this migration topic interested me?
The process of temporary migration is of interest to me as a geography student because this is global issue which is growing rapidly. The reasons why people are migrating are very different but the goal of this extended essay is to make a clear picture for myself why actually people are migrating to Ireland, the country which I am looking at as a destination for Lithuanian migrants. As a citizen of Lithuania I know that the issue became one of most discussed, and more and more people are migrating to Ireland in past eight years.
As an objective for my extended essay I want to focus and investigate the main reason of this type of migration, such as slender income and what social-economical impacts it brings to migrants, their families and countries.
Introduction to Migration:
International temporary migration is a sub-category of a wider concept of ‘movement’, embracing various types and forms of human mobility. Migration streams which have two reasonable factors: 1) Ejective factor- living standard decrease and 2) Attractive factor- potential income or living standard which one can guarantee living or working in other country. Social and economic changes of recent years having occurred in Lithuania have predetermined an essentially new population migration pattern.
