Great Britain's geography

Great Britain, the dominant industrial and maritime power of the 19th century, played a leading role in parliamentary democracy and in advancing literature and science. At its zenith, the British Empire had one – fourth of the earth’s surface. The first half of the 20th century saw the UK’s strength during World wars. The second half witnessed the dismantling of the Empire and the UK rebuilding to prosperous European nation. As one of five permanent members of the UN Security Council and NATO, and of the Commonwealth, the UK pursues a global approach to foreign policy. A member of the EU, it chose to remain of the Monetary Union for the time being.

Britain is made up of four countries: England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland, each with its own distinctive landscapes from London to the tip of Scotland, you’ll have a wonderful time exploring Britain.
The United Kingdom includes Great Britain (comprising England, Scotland and Wales) and Northern Ireland, and lies off the north – west coast of mainland Europe. Its closest continental neighbors are France and Belgium. Great Britain is the largest island in Europe. London, the capital, is the 17th most heavily populated city (8 million) in the world.
In England it is never too hot or too cold. This is because of the sea, which keeps the island warm in winter and makes the air cool in summer. The winds from the Atlantic are warm and wet and they bring plenty of rain to the island. The weather changes in England very often and you can never have the same kind of weather for a long time. In spring sunshine and showers follow each other so often...
