Criminal situation in Lithuania

• Murder. Almost everyday in media we can read or hear about killed people. There are a lot of reasons why murderers kill: for money, to get inheritance (palikimas), because of family rows (kivirčas), adultery (neištikimybė) and many other reasons. But there are a lot of killers maniacs who kill for their own pleasure.
• Domestic assault. It is a very big problem in Lithuania. A lot of women and children suffer from violent men. The main reason why men become very aggressive is alcohol. The biggest problem is that almost all victims don’t want to ask for help because they are afraid of their violent husbands.
• Theft. It is the most common crime in Lithuania. Car thieves, robbers, shoplifters, pickpockets make a lot of harm. To protect from them we should always lock the doors and cars during the night, switch on the burglar-alarms, be very careful in such places like markets, shops, concerts in the open. There is a wide range of thefts: from stealing money, goods, small equipment to bank raids, car thefts, thefts from museums and galleries.
• Hooliganism. It is a very popular crime among teenagers. For example, after discos they are ruining public property, disturbing the peace by shouting and cursing on the roads, smashing bottles, breaking windows, fences or benches, pulling down dustbins. Hooliganism...
