Social research: reading books nowadays

Choosing the problem. One day we saw an advertisement in the city, which asked, when did you read a book the last time. Ten we wondered, that this is quite a serious problem nowadays. People read books now more seldom then earlier. We even forget not only to read books, but also about such problem. Due to this we decided to conduct a research, why don’t people read books today. Of course, pupils and students read various textbooks, but there are very few ones, who read books for their pleasure.
Stating hypothesis. We think, the main reason of this problem is development of new technologies. Television, computers, Internet are much more attractive means of getting information than books. They are faster, can provide more information and produce it more visually. Moreover, a lot of people are very busy and they haven’t time to read books. Most of them work mentally a lot and spend their little spare time having a rest from mental work. However, some people think we should worry about this, because we lose all advantages of reading: we don’t educate our imagination, can’t forget a routine so often and think about something else.
Stage 2: Research design
In our research we decided to ask some students from our university (mainly from the faculty of telecommunications and electronics) some questions:
1. How many books of polite literature did you read during 2 last years?
2. Do you agree with the proposition, that people read very few books nowadays?
3. If you answered “yes” to the 2 question, then how do you think, why people don’t read books?
4. If you answered “yes” to the 2 question, then how do you think, is it a negative phenomenon or not?
5. If you answered “yes” to the 4 question, then how do you think, why is it a...
