E. Hemingway "The short happy life of Francis Macomber"

Ernest Hemingway has created a short story of mystery “ The Short Happy Life of Francis Macomber”. Truly speaking, I had to read this story several times because I could not catch the idea of it and from the first sight it looked uninteresting und unconceivable for me. But more I was reading, more it was causing interest. This Hemingway’s mystery does not reveal itself to the reader until the end of the story. On the contrary, I think it leaves a lot of imagination and the readers are only definitely guessing.
So this is a story of a man who had almost everything: he had money, he had beautiful wife, and had plenty of time to enjoy both. But he lacked something, and this was his wife’s respect and his self-esteem. He was a coward, and his wife controlled him and he did anything what she wanted. Then, the time came when he discovered that he could take control over his own life even over his wife. His wife Margot would never leave him, because of the position he had. So Francis Macomber was secure of it and of everything. He was really happy for the first time in his life. As we know, there is one expression that “ The happiness does not ever last long”…In my opinion, this expression we can ascribe to this short Hemingway’s story, because that happy excerpt of Macomber’s life was broken off by Margot, his wife. If not she, maybe he could be happy longer or even the rest time of his life. So the accusatory of this is Margot. Maybe you are doubting why? I think that she could not stand it, that her husband was not a coward anymore, and now he could rule. And really Margot was very afraid of...
