What are the major problems facing the nature in your own country?

This current day and age Lithuania faces the same global problems as the rest of the world: increased consumption of natural resources, deforestation, air pollution, erosion of fertile soil, a higher risk of endangering already endangered species and contamination of our own underground water reserves.
The consumption of Earths natural resources poses two challenges. First of all, every natural resource is not limitless and will be used up with time. A search for new resources and for the extraction of them not only is a challenge of itself, but also requires huge funds. Most of the time the search for the same materials geographically differentiates. This increases the cost of transporting resources and overall production costs, especially when resource depletion forces companies to change technology and production profile to a less eco-friendly matter.
