The Greek educational system

The Greek educational system is mainly divided into three levels. The first is primary education, which is compulsory, were having to learn about 7- 8 years. It consists of a kindergarten and Primary school. Other secondary education with 3 years compulsory and 3 years optional It consists of: Junior High school and High school or Vocational training. When Higher Tertiary education, which it's non-compulsory. Can choose between: Universities, Polytechnics, Technological Educational Institutes, Academies, primarily for military & clergy. Children go to kindergarten at the age of 5 years old. They can go at the age of 4, but it's not necessary. After kindergarten children go to primary school. In the beginning, the child learns to write, count, and read. Later, as they get older, more things are added like history, geography, science, art, religious education, physical education, English. In first and second classes students are not officially graded. In the third and fourth grades, the assessment is alphabetical (A to D). From the fifth grade onwards, starting with numbers (from 1 to 10) and writing exams. While in the Lithuania grading system is like this: the first four classes are grading by letter, later, from fifth classes starting grade like in Greece by numbers and we have an exam at end of the fourth class. The grading system in secondary school has remained the same as since the fifth grade. At the end of each year, students take written joint examinations, which are considered intermediate-level grades. Subjects added in the gymnasium are ancient Greek language and literature, chemistry, biology, technology, informatics, physic, and second foreign language German or French, while in Lithuania often is Russian or German.
