The benefits of a multicultural society

Multiculturalism is the existence of multiple ethnic groups in the same society. However, some people argue about the benefits of such a system. In my opinion, multiculturalism brings tolerance and integration, but sometimes it may lead to an increase in crime rates.

First of all, cultural diversity increases tolerance for all types of people. This is a real problem for many countries who have a strong national identity. But a gradual increase in members of other cultures would solve this problem. A lot of such cases can be seen in east Asia. For example, Chinese people are not used to seeing foreigners, particularly those with darker skin tones. This is why visitors often get strange looks from the locals and report feeling uncomfortable. This problem has been noticed and is being worked on. Therefore, the more multiculturalism a society experiences, the more tolerant it becomes.

To add to this, integration is another great benefit of an ethnically diverse population. This isn’t so much about the local people, but the immigrants. Integration is what allows these people to feel accepted and welcomed. Without this, most foreigners would be unlikely to stay for long. A good example of this is Lithuania. Integration here is a clear priority with specific laws to target this issue. For this reason, there has been an increase of immigrants from diverse cultural backgrounds. I have noticed a rise in foreign influencers, living in Lithuania, who feel happy staying here and some have even created families. That is why integration allows diverse populations to thrive.
