Summary
The new approach to report organization is made today, which helps the reader quicker to catch the main ideas of the report and helps him to make the writing easier.
The procedure of actual writing of the report can be divided into three separate steps:
First step - details. It is collecting background material, technical data, production details and etc. Second step – analysis of details. It contains analysis all the details, separation it into logical groups. Third step – conclusions. It is final step, concludes about main findings and results.
Written reports must be logical, must be factual and must be complete.
Report writer must understand the needs of the audience, what the audience expects. Before presenting reports to the audience make sure what the audience wants.
Essential stage in reports writing is collecting and organizing information, writing first draft.
To avoid time wasting verbosity is convenient to use illustrations, which can help the readers easier understand difficult parts of reports.
There are described two main forms of laboratory reports – industrial and academic laboratory reports. Industrial laboratory reports simply describe the tests performed and the results obtained. The next form of laboratory reports is used in universities and colleges, where students are asked to perform tests and then write a lab report to describe their findings.
