O. Wilde "The Nightingale and the Rose"

Oscar Wilde was the author of the nineteenth century. As a writer he was extremely popular, for he wrote not only literary criticism and essays, but also excellent prose, "The Portrait of Dorian Grey", "An Ideal Husband". This author is also known for his fairy tale "The Nightingale and the Rose", which was written by Wilde for his sons. Not all fairy tales have happy end and these make me think about poetic justice and the most important beauty not only in our life, but also in this fairy tale. That is inner beauty and strong love.
The theme is conveyed in this story through the actions of the nightingale. She wanted to find the reddest rose, although a student did not ask to do it. It demonstrates how one life would sacrifice itself in order to make another happy. The nightingale decided to devote herself to the happiness of student: "Death is a great price to pay for a red rose". Every sentence should give one pause to think - can we do so much for our friend? From the nightingale's point of view, this is a tragically ironic story. For she thinks that the student must be a "true lover": "Here at last is a true lover". So bird said that love is a very important thing: "Surely Love is a wonderful thing. It is more precious than emeralds". Later was said correct idea that: "It may not be purchased of the merchants, nor can it be weighed out in the balance for gold".
