Lithuanian theatre

Theatre is the branch of the performing arts defined as simply as what "occurs when one or more human beings, isolated in time and space, present themselves to another or others." By this broad definition, theatre has existed since the dawn of man, as a result of human tendency for story telling. A lot of people are interested in theatre and often go to watch various performances in it. I have been taking an interest in theatre since I have visited it first time. It gave me a sharp impression.
Theatres came into being as far back as antiquity, in times of ancient Rome and Greece. There were amphitheatres which were used for spectator sports, games, theatrical performances (also gladiators). Whereas, the history of Lithuanian theatres embraces more than 400 years. The first theatre art centre in Lithuania was the theatre of the Grand Dukes’ court at the Lower Castle in Vilnius in the second half of the 16th century. The court theatres of Lithuanian noblemen were important centres of drama, opera, and ballet in the second half of the 18th century. A broad movement of so-called Lithuanian evenings started in the last decade of the 19th Century.
