Lithuanian national drama theater

The beginning of the Lithuanian National Drama Theater is on October 6, 1940, when the Dutch dramatist Hermans Heijermans' drama "Hope" was performed in the then Vilnius State Theater on Basanavičiaus Street (No. 13). The visual motif of the play about the life of fishermen - the boat - became the emblem of the National Drama Theater.

• During World War II, the Vilnius State Theater operated as the Vilnius City Theater, from 1944 to 1947 as the Vilnius State Drama Theater, from 1947 to 1955 it was called the Lithuanian State Drama Theater, until 1998 as the Lithuanian State Academic Drama Theater, and on August 3, 1998, it was legalized as Lithuanian national drama theater.
