Klaipeda seaport

A Baltic seaport, Klaipeda is situated in a narrow strait called the "Sea Canal" on the Eastern Baltic Seashore. The port is open for navigation all the year round.
The width of the approaching channel to the port is 100 m. and depth 14.5 m. The entrance of the sea canal protected by the Northern and Southern moles.
The length of the fairway from the port entrance up to the Kiaulies Nugara shoal at the entrance to the Kurshiu Marios gulf is 4 miles, width varies from 180 m. to 300 m. and the depths are from 6 m. to 9 m. at the mean water level.
The permissible drafts for vessels navigating along the Sea Canal are as follows: 10.6 m. to 8.0 m. from the Canal entrance up to the Winter Harbour, further up to the Klaipedos Smelte Company and Ferry Terminal - not more than 7.5 m.

Pilotage:
A Pilot Boat usually meets a vessel at Light Buoy No.1(Lat.:55°44'N Long.: 21°00'E ). It carries the Pilot flag by day and lights prescribed for a Pilot boat by night. Pilot`s watch is kept 24 hours a day except in periods of dense fog and strong S.W.- N.W.winds over Force 7 Beaufort scale. The Master of a vessel shall order a Pilot via the Shipping Agency in advance.The port is equipped with a coastal radar vessels`movement control system(Atlass type).
Anchorage:
Anchorage can be obtained in the outer roads at Receiving Light Buoy No. 1(Lat.: 55°44'N Long.: 21°00'E). The outer roads anchorage for tankers is situated at a distance 3.5 miles(N.W.) from Receiving Light Buoy No.1.Depths from 31 m.- 35 m.
