Globalisation's advantages and impact

To begin with, globalization refers to increasing global connectivity, integration and interdependence in the economic, social, technological, cultural, political, and ecological spheres ( ). Although some people look at it positively, others definitely do not. That is why it is very important to know what benefits it brings and what negative subsequences it provokes.
• Lingual (as people learn foreign languages it is not a problem to speak for Lithuanian with Russian in English).
Moreover, the quality of life is being improved as living standards were raised (see appendix 1). What is more, globalization “opened” an access to more information and knowledge. Physical place does not matter anymore. Person can buy whatever he wants from almost all countries through the Internet. Countries are developing collectively. More important is that people are brought together to solve global problems (environmental, health and poverty). See appendix 2 for the details. By courtesy of globalization security has increased and the danger of global war is reduced. However, among many advantages there are a lot of issues too.
Disadvantages
Firstly, the negative subsequence of globalisation is inequalities and the unaccountable and growing power of the global media corporations, which are operating in the interests on the USA and the West European countries (Schiller, H. 1991). It makes other countries feel unsafely and inadequately as they are under dominant countries’ pressure. As a result, countries of the third world have been marginalized and exploited. Multinationals have become increasingly global, locating manufacturing plants overseas in order to capitalise on cheaper labour costs or to be closer to their markets ( ). Moreover, globalization brought in new problems such as drug trafficking, money laundering, people’s migration from poorer countries to richer ones (see appendix 3).
