"Father Goriot" summary

"Father Goriot" is a novel written by Honore de Balzac and published in 1835 as part of his series "La Comédie Humaine". The story is set in Paris in 1819 and centers around the lives of three main characters: Father Goriot, a retired merchant who has sacrificed everything to provide for his two daughters; Eugène de Rastignac, a law student who becomes friends with Father Goriot and becomes involved in the intrigues of Parisian high society; and Madame de Beauséant, a wealthy and beautiful woman who becomes Rastignac's romantic interest.
