4. Which kitchen- The Chinese, Japanese, Armenian, Turkish, Russian, French, Italian, Greece, Spanish- appeals to you the most. Give arguments.
I must admit, that our lithuanian cuisine isn‘t very rich. We eat a lot of pork with potatoes. Also we use a lot of kinds of sauce and gravy, which is fattening and not very healthy. But we can be proud of our dairy products. Our home-made cottage cheese is the best known. Everyone likes it! Besides, we can boast of our dark home-made bread. Some regions such as Biržai, Pasvalys are famous for their home-made beer. Everybody says that it is very tasty and strong. Furthermore, Dzūkai make rye vodką which is our traditional drink. Also, we have typical strong beverage “midus” (strong spirit drink made from honey and herbs), which is appreciated by foreigners and coul be given as a Lithuaniain souvenir.
I can say we have a lot of home-made smoked meat products. For example, ham, bacon, salami, flitch and so on, because we are an agrarian county. At parties housewives prepare a great variety of starters such as forest mushrooms, herring dishes and a lot of pickles. Later at parties housewives serve hot dishes. The national meals of our country are “Cepelinai” ( potato dumplings stuffed with meat filling) and cold beetroot soup. I must admit, that I can prepare just cold beetroot soup.
Peel and dice the beetroot. Dice the cucumber, chop the eggs and spring onions. Pour the sour milk into the bowl, add the beetroot, cucumbers, spring onions and eggs. Season everything with salt, dills and...
