• The beginning of the early Middle Ages is marked by one very important event - the conversion of the Merovingian king Clovis to Christianity. • Saint Boniface (675-755) was born in England and ordained as a priest after joining a Benedictine order. He is credited with helping to bring Christianity to Germany and unifying the tribes there.
