Though, it might seem that after being allies during the Second World War Americans and Soviets shouldn’t be hostile towards each other, it was absolutely opposite. While working together, the USA’s President Roosevelt and the USSR’s President Stalin were seeking the same aim – to suppress and take control over Nazis. Because they had the same enemy Stalin, Roosevelt and Churchill were obliged to be polite towards each other and work hand in hand together. In real life Roosevelt, as well as Churchill, didn’t like Stalin’s communist policy, but he knew that it would cost too much for USA to make such enemies as the Soviets and planed to maintain good relations with USSR. He also intended to get a commitment from Stalin to enter the war against Japan as he knew that since 1930 USSR’s industry grew and it is now a powerful country with a great army and military forces. In the mean while, Stalin didn’t like the capitalists and he was feeling deceived by his allies during the war with Germany. He believed that the USA and Great Britain deliberately were delaying the D day and were waiting for the USSR get tired and weak. On the other hand, Stalin knew that he would need such powerful ally like USA if he wanted to win the war against Nazi’s Germany. Nevertheless, even though he was respectful towards Roosevelt, he openly showed his mistrust in Churchill: “Perhaps you think that just because we are allies of the English we have forgotten who they are and who Churchill is. […] Churchill is the kind of man who will pick your pocket of a kopeck! And Roosevelt? Roosevelt is not like that. He dips in his hand only for bigger coins.” 1 We can see that there was mistrust between...
