We should not have school uniforms in Norway

Many people have different views about school uniforms. Some think that students must wear it and others don’t care about uniforms, but in my opinion, we shouldn’t have uniforms in Norway, and these are my reasons.

I think that we should all have freedom to express ourselves how we want. There’s 8 billion people in the world and all of them have different taste in style. Some like baggy jeans, others skinny jeans or sweatpants for a more relaxed look. Having an uniform is like having a strict dress code, which you need to follow everyday at school. Having to put on a skirt, white shirt and a jacket to look formal every day is tiring for a girl. In a boys view to put on a suit is also tiring and not comfortable. Boys grow up not trying to dress up and impress someone, they dress up for comfort.

Those who don’t object to having an uniform always say it’s a good idea and you can describe that person and create an opinion from just knowing to which school the person goes to. From my experience as I lived in Lithuania and every school has its own uniform, I can say it’s tiring. In middle school we had a skirt and a jacket, boys had just a jacket, they were lucky, us girls had to suffer. In wintertime you could wear pants, so that was a relief, but having to go to school in a uniform was kind of a shame, because everybody knew to which school you go to. For example, everyday a supervisor went through every class to check who wasn’t wearing their uniform. Who didn’t wear their uniform had to write a letter of explanation why they didn‘t wear it that day or why they left it in their locker. It was tiring. After 3 times they would call your parents and ask them to come to your school. I’m glad that never happened to me.
