Travelling (monologue)

The topic of my today’s speech is travelling. I’m going to express my opinion on certain topics related to travelling, try and answer the question “What does travelling give you?” as well as introduce you to my own experience of travelling abroad. I’m also going to talk about some more technical things, such as the ways of travelling. Please note that everything I’m going to say today is just my opinion and you are completely free to agree or disagree with it.
“The more you see, the more you understand.” – this is a statement every single one of us has read at least a dozen times while preparing for today’s lesson, and I absolutely agree with it. Some or even most of you may have a completely different opinion on this, so I would like to explain mine.
A lot of the times, people don’t have their own opinions, instead they rely on what is considered to be right or wrong in the society. Most of these people don’t have any strong arguments to support and justify their opinion. They believe in the stereotypes created by the society or have been conditioned to have a specific opinion by the environment they’re in. For example, their parents have been constantly telling them to believe in one thing or another while they were growing up. Travelling gives travellers the chance to see the world through their own eyes, make up their own opinions and then decide if they still want to stand by the opinion that has been there since the beginning.
On the other side of the coin, travelling is one of life’s greatest teachers. It pulls travelers out of their comfort zone whether they like it or not, teaches them to value experiences over things, to be patient, humble and make friends....
