The mesmerizing beauty of Trakai

Trakai is a historical capital, it‘s the main attraction being the old wooden houses built by the Karaites, a tribe of Turkic people who were brought to Lithuania by Grand Duke Vytautas from the Crimea and who served as his bodyguards. Around Trakai there are about 20 lakes, the largest of them being Lake Galve, an established center of water sports in Lithuania. Almost one-fifth of the park area is occupied by lakes. Forests take up one-third of the park territory.
There is a medieval red- brick castle where the grand dukes lived. Visit the museum inside the castle to explore the exhibitions of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania, various archaeological findings and artefacts, as well as a collection of art. In the summer there are medieval festivals as well as various events and concerts in the castle’s courtyard. Also, there are some activities for the kind like learning how to shout an arrow.
If you are not a fan of history you may also jump on a boat and explore the Galve Lake or see the other side of the Trakai Island Castle. For some team or family fun get into a paddleboat and make some waves. Also if you want to see gorgeous views you may choose a cruise around the lake in a yacht will give you a glimpse of its most beautiful spots.
