The Hanging gardens of Babylon (essay)

Hanging Gardens of Babylon are considered one of the Seven Wonders of the World and were near the royal palace in Babylon. By the beginning of the 21st century, the site of the Hanging Gardens has not been found. Nevertheless, the Hanging Gardens of Babylon are one of the most controversial wonders of the world, simply because their existence cannot be proved or denied.
The Hanging Gardens were described in detail by a number of Classical authors. Some sources disagreed on who built them, but a number of descriptions said that the gardens were located near the royal palace and were set upon vaulted terraces. Legend has it that the gardens were built by king to please his favorite wife. She was lonely and missed her homeland. The king built the Gardens to reduce her homesickness. There is another story about the creation of the Gardens. It says that the Gardens were built by Queen during her five year reign, but this story is pretty much forgotten.
The Hanging Gardens did not actually hang at all. They were made up of an imitated mountain with rooftop gardens. They would have likely been multi-level...
