Physical Description
• Sharks come in different sizes, for example, the dogfish shark is only a few centimetres long, while the whale shark is the largest fish in the world.
Parts of a Shark
Sharks are fish, however they do not have bones-their skeletons are made out of cartilage. They swim by swinging their tails from side to side. Sharks use their fins to steer and keep their balance.
Camouflage
Many sharks are protected by camouflage patterns that help them to blend in with their habitat. They are dark on top and pale on the bottom.
Types of Sharks
There are many types of sharks. A few types of sharks are very dangerous and are to be feared, however the others are completely harmless.
There are 360 different species of sharks which can be classified into eight different groups.
