Science poses a serious threat to the future of humanity

In nowadays world it is getting easier and easier to live simple and enjoyable lives. Some people claim that all the achievements in the different branches of science pose a threat to the future of humanity and that there is a lack of direction in these attainments. I hold the view that science and all of the technologies are extremely helpful and crucial, even though they have some demerits.
On the one hand, some areas of science like arms industry can be harmful and dangerous. Products such as drones, warships and weapons can be used in a really wrong way. In the past, there were wars happening in different countries all around the world and even though weapons were not as advanced as today it was still such an unsafe thing. Nowadays, since arms industry has improved in a severely way, fortunately there are less wars. However, it is an uncertainty when these weapons will fall into the wrong hands and something terrible will happen.
