School - a blessing or a curse?

This day and age its popular to complain about school. Students complain that it causes stress and teaches useless information, that we will never use again. But there is another way to perceive school.
A young lady named Carley tried to present us with another perspective. She started her talk by speaking about all the negatives of school. How there are very few students that don’t dread getting out of bed, how boring is school and how it causes stress. But Carley also challenged us to change our perspective. She proposes that there is always a girl in Africa who would give up everything to take our place. Carley suggests that we should focus more on the positives of school like making friends and getting free education.
Her talk really made me think from a new perspective, feel empathy. I too often complain about grades, bad teachers, all the stress, but now I realize that I should be more grateful for what I have. Still, that doesn’t mean that the education system doesn’t have its flaws. We are not living in a third world country and the school system could be improved. For instance, lessons could be more interactive, students should be divided into smaller groups and feedback could be given instead of bad grades, which are discouraging. Indeed, I have better conditions than other children, but that’s not a reason for progress stagnation.
Lastly, the atmosphere in this video wasn’t the best. Talking about the stage, it was quiet like in a vacuum. Indeed, I couldn’t see any people. I noticed that Carley was very nervous. It surprised me that she even decided to participate this TED talk while she mentions how scared she is before presentations. Nevertheless, she did great. Clearly, she was afraid, but I would be too.
