Nobody is born racist.
Considering racism to be one of the most urgent human rights problems at this time, we, as a society, should acknowledge the fact that not a single person is born with a preset mindset of prejudice and discrimination to a specific race or community.
We are thrown into this world completely clueless. The purity and innocence of an infant should be enough to understand that discrimination to others, as well as any other spiritual or mental value, is taught and brought upon fully by one’s environment and people around them. The way a person is being taught about prejudice to other races and racial differences in their early childhood years, most likely determines the roots of their mindset towards this kind of problem for decades in advance.
This directly correlates with the idea of racist parents raising racist children, however it is certainly not fair to put all blame on the guardians. Even though the way adults talk with and around their child, and the things they are being taught undoubtedly affect the infant’s mindset, there is a clear indication of media being nearly as important factor. With today’s technology a child can access extremely violent and unfiltered content on the internet that could alter their perspective to be discriminatory towards others, whether it would be information leading the child to believe that one or another race is superior towards others, or simply an insensitive joke.
