Nazism

Before the Nazi party had officially formed there was a short lived far right political party called the German Workers’ Party or the DAP which opposed the ToV, supported nationalism and anti-Semitism.
It’s important to the story of the Nazi political movement because after WW1 ended Hitler attended a DAP meeting on the 12th of September 1919 and would go on to quickly join it becoming its 55th member. That same year his first public speech as a member of the DAP takes place. Three months later the DAP changes its name to National Socialist German Workers’ Party, the NSDAP, the Nazis. By the end of the year the Nazis had bought their first paper and had over 2 000 party members.
In 1921 the standard work of German racialism was published which would later help form part of the scientific basis to the Nazi racial hygiene policies and their euthanasia campaign. In February Hitler spoke to large audiences of over six thousand people and just five months later in late July he’d go on to take control over the Nazi party and begin calling himself Fuhrer. By the end of 1921 the nazi party membership was recorded at 3,3 thousand.
1922 was the year when inflation hit the German economy and when France occupied the Ruhr.
Mid 1923 was when Germanys’ inflation became hyperinflation and on November 8th the Munich putsch happened for which Hitler being sent to prison in 1924 where he wrote Mein Kampf which became the basis of Nazi ideology. Nazism continued to spread throughout germany with the party winning 12 seats in the Reichstags 1928 elections.
In 1929 the Wall Street crash happened which the Nazis exploited and in the 1930 elections won 107 seats and became the second most popular political party before the social democrats.
