Laura Ingalls Wilder “Home for Christmas“

To begin with, my short story is called Home for Christmas by Laura Ingalls Wilder. who was born in 1867 and died in 1957. The story was published in 1924 in Missouri Newspaper, and republished in womens magazine Good Housekeeping december issue in 1991, however, it takes place around winter 1882 in the US.
This story is a real-life story, these events happened to the author herself.
To describe briefly, in this story author tells us how she came home for Christmas, as the title states. The excerpt starts with the description of the imagery - the so-called schoolhouse - a claim shanty, or summer home of a homesteader, which were very typical for the 19th century USA. where she was studying of which the 1, it describes the poor conditions where the children were studying.
Furthermore, there’s a detail when another character appears - a “teacher”, who is referred to as she, the word is written in the quotation marks. In my opinion, it is done like that because the teacher might not actually have the qualifications of the teacher. Because we know it is 1882, women didn’t have rights, couldn't work, were expected to be stay at home wives, and depended on men. She is as well as the main character is wondering if she could get home for Christmas.
