Imagine a picture: a huge beautiful stage you have always dreamed to play on, an audience is waiting for you, you come on that stage, play a brilliant recital in a competition and become a first-place winner. Seems like a dream to each musician. But possible only will be just dream owing to lack of motivation. As a pianist and participant of the national competitions I feel brave enough to say that music is not anymore about the notes we play or the melodies we create. It is about the spirit that fuels our passion. The path to professional mastery is filled with obstacles and moments of self-doubt. That is why it's essential to remember that staying motivated is no longer just a choice, it's a necessity. And today I will uncover a secret of staying motivated in a competitive environment of classical music.

As long as you continue to do what you have been doing all this time, you continue you stay where were and receive only what you have already received all this time. To move forward, new tactics are and new first steps are needed. Motivation fades away as soon as routine comes in. Don't be afraid to do what you don't know how to do. Do what you don't know how to do! Any development begins with a thing in which you are inexperienced, and that is exactly when you start to improve. A few years ago, I was really strict to myself about choosing new repertoire. I never chose pieces that I loved so much but that seemed slightly too difficult. It was a wrong mindset. Since I've changed it, I understand how much new musical and technical skills I learned as musician. As well as I have more motivation to practise in order to improve.
