These days mobile phones are everything – telephones, calendars, letters, alarms, calculators, and much more. Children and teenagers use phones to communicate with their friends and families, which has brought up many conversations about the safety and risks of almost every modern-day adolescent having a mobile phone. On one hand, they help kids make new connections and, in case of emergency, always be just a phone call away from parents. On the other hand, parents are starting to track their children, lessening their freedom, and going through the kids’ property, and as such invading their privacy, which, in turn, is making children more sheltered and unable to be independent.
Modern day teenagers and children have an easy way of staying in contact with their parents using mobile phones. Over the past couple decades technology has advanced so much that most people cannot even imagine going outside with a phone in their pocket. Accordingly, children are given phones in case of emergencies at a very young age, and, in turn, the parents feel safer knowing that if anything happens their children can call them or the police.
