The mass media has a major influence on our lifestyle today

Mass media is the most remarkable characteristic of XXI century. There is no doubt that it influences everybody lives in some sort of way.
First of all, it is unavoidable. Mass media is everywhere: on the streets we pass by enormous billboards advertising some sort of celebrity or product. Every single person has a TV set in their house. Millions of civilians are getting brainwashed to buy new things and spend money on unnecessary objects. So naturally, everyone is getting more and more obsessed with money. In my opinion, people living in XX century were more modest. Nowadays, everyone is trying to outdo themselves, picking ugly expensive brands neither living lavishly and, as I mentioned before, throwing money in the air. Based on these arguments, we can clearly notice that people, willingly or unwillingly are getting brain washed by the media to live carefree and spend as much money on unnecessary products as they possibly can.
To contradict the negative side of media, I would like to say that mass media is the best source of information. Unlike books, which we need to actively read to find information, we can just click on our smartphones...
