Cultural tourism in Lithuania

• Cultural tourism refers to forms of tourism that highlight the cultural, heritage or artistic aspects of a destination or experiences and activities for the tourist – a kind of cultural immersion. Some people define themselves as cultural tourists because culture is the primary motivation for their travel.
• Stelmužė village is situated at the state Lithuanian-Latvian border, between Stelmužė and Lukštas lakes and at the manor famous since the 16th century. There has survived a park, an old oak-tree, a wooden church, several buildings dating back to this place is reminded by archaeological excavations.
• - is one of the most famous structures in Vilnius, a masterpiece of late Gothic. It was designed in 1495-1500 by Benedikt Rejt, an architect of the Jagiellons, who also designed Ladislas’ Hall in Hradčany in Prague. It has survived into our days almost unchangend.
• A large, neo-classical building set in a huge open space, with a detached (and older) bell tower next to it. This cathedral, both inside and outside, is white and severe. I had found it cold and rather forbidding when I went inside a couple of days earlier, despite a handsome high altar and one beautiful baroque chapel surviving from a former building. But it felt very different when it was full of people.
• Park of Europe has been laid out in a picturesque locality, only 19 km away from Vilnius, close to the geographical centre of Europe.
• The Museum of the Centre of Europe located there is one of the most touristic places in Lithuania. The park was established in 1991 by sculptor Gintaras Karosas.
• The aim of the museum is to mark out the geographical centre of Europe in the language of art.
• More than 90 sculptures have been adapted to the concrete location and features of the terrain.
