Writing your cover letter

• Policy - a set of ideas that has been agreed to officially by a business organization, etc.
• Vacancy - a job that no one is doing and is therefore available for someone new to do.
• Background – a person’s experience of education, past, wealth, etc.
• Attribute - a quality or characteristic that someone or something has.
• Reference - a letter that is written by someone who knows you, to describe you and say if you are suitable for a job, course, etc.
• Workflow - the way that a particular type of work is organized, or the order of the stages in a particular work process.
• To perceive - to have a certain opinion about something.
• Genuine - real and exactly what it appears to be, sincere, honest.
• Reputable - having a good reputation and able to be trusted.
Discussion
1) What do you think is the main objective of the cover letter?
2) What, in your opinion, is the most crucial information about a potential employee for the hiring manager? Explain why.
3) Imagine that you are a hiring manager and try to explain what would be your workflow and emotions during work.
4) Think of at least 5 adjectives that would best describe you and explain how they would benefit a company that you dream working for.
Objectives of a cover letter
Make the hiring person curious (this will ensure, that the hiring person reads the rest of the letter and your CV)
Get a reply (if the manager took the time to write back, you made an impression)
