Writing an essay. Introduction and Conclusion

State your topic.
Has to be 2-5 sentences. If it’s longer so it means that you are not writing a very organized introduction.
Hook to grab attention.
Bridge - briefly explain, and gradually lead your reader(s) to your thesis statement. Be sure to keep these sentences concise and straight to the point.
Thesis statement -your entire essay revolves around this statement.
Thesis statement provides your audience with a brief summary of what you are going to be revealing or arguing about in the body section of your paper.
A good thesis statement is very concise (one sentence), accurate, specific, clear, and focused.

Hook:
Surprising statement : Some people may not realize that McDonald’s hamburger’s can last for many years without rotting.
Story: The Lithuanian football team was not expected to do well in the world cup. Then they surprised everyone by beating Spain in the first match. This early success made fans believe that the Lithuanian team could go far in the tournament.
Question: What makes teenagers lie to their parents? (Questions make the writer sound like he doesn’t know what he is talking about. Get to your point rather than asking rhetorical question.)
Quotation: Andy Warhol wisely pointed out that ‘ As soon as you stop wanting something, you get it.’ (If you decide to use a quote make sure that it is relevant to your essay)
Statistic: Researchers have found out that there are 1.22 more deaths from car accidents in rural areas than in urban areas.
Exercise: introduction paragraph
Smallville needs more police to control gangs and drug users and to decrease violence.
In high crimes neighbours like his, this frequently happens.
There are not enough police to protect innocent people walking home at night.
Two years ago, John Smith was robbed...
