It is a fact that there are a number of companies that does not see the importance of employee recognition. Managers often see the broader picture of achieving goals, getting the profits and making the big money, but they often forget the people who are involved in making their goals achievable. Nonetheless, there are employers who claim that to be fully successful in the workplace at any level, you need to understand the psychology of praising others for their good work, to apply the concepts of employee appreciation and to encourage others to initiate it in their working relationships. In this essay, the reasons why employee recognition is important will be examined in more detailed way.
First and foremost, employee recognition is important as it increases the level of productivity at work, reduces the turnover of employee, generates higher profits and also it improves customer satisfaction. Moreover, a happy employee is a happy customer and when you have a satisfied customer, the sales will come in automatically and they may even increase. Unfortunately, in 2016, Gallup analysis showed that only 1 in 3 US workers strongly agreed that in the past 7 days they had received recognition or praise for doing good work. Gallup consultants recommend that recognition should be given weekly in broad terms to those who deserve it – and in a timely way so the employee recognizes the significance of their recent accomplishment and to strengthens the values of company.
Secondly, when employees feel recognized, they stick around. The thing is that employees do not quit the jobs, they quit managers. Employees are satisfied with their work at times, but they are not with their bosses or superiors. Employees feel that their managers make them feel undervalued. People want to know that they are making significant contributions at work....
