Water Study in my Environment

• To investigate chemical aspects of water and assess its quality in the wells, from water supply, the rain, as well as in river Šešupė.
• To assess the drinkable water quality on the basis of Hygiene Standards of the Republic of Lithuania HN 24:2017.
• A water sample from the water supply in Kalvarija town meets the set hygiene standards and is suitable for human consumption.
• JBL EasyTest 6 in 1 test strips for testing nitrites, nitrates, pH and hardness of water in water samples;
• Quantofix Phosphate a tester to determine the level of phosphate in a water sample;
• TDS-3 meter to measure the concentration of dissolved solids in water.

• The negative effect of nitrites, nitrates, phosphate and dissolved solids in water was studied.

The Procedure of the Study
• We determined the level of nitrites and nitrates, pH and hardness of water by using test strips.
• Using Quantofix Phosphate tester kit, we tested phosphate in water samples.
• Using test strips, we determined dissolved solids in a water sample.
• Added to this, the amount of dissolved salts in water was tested with TDS-3 meter.
