Sveiki visi, esu kandidatas/ -ė nr. 84, grupė F. And the topic of my monologue is “Books“. So, I would like to start.
To begin with, people often compare books and movies. Both of them have pros and cons. Speaking about books, when people are reading, they can interpret the plot and the story how they like. Books allow to be creative and use imagination. Furthermore, books are much more detailed rather than films. Usually, a movie lasts approximately two hours while a book can be hundreds of pages. On the other hand, some people could argue that films are better rather than books. One of the arguments are that films have a more social aspect than books. People can go to the cinema with friends and talk about the film together. Also, watching a movie might help interpret the storyline in a space of two hours, while it may take a whole weekend to finish a book.
To continue, I would like to give some information about one of my favorite writers - Ruta Sepetys. She is a Lithuanian-American writer of historical fiction. The writer is a daughter of a Lithuanian refugee, born in Michigan, she was raised in a family of artists, readers, and music lovers. Ruta Sepetys became the first American author of young adult literature to give a presentation at the European Parliament. I fell in love with this writer from the first pages of the book “Between shades of gray”.
