The best gift a person can be given is freedom (Rašinys)

Although my generation did not live in the times when other countries encroached on Lithuania‘s independence, there are many books and movies that tell us about the brutality that our grandparents had experienced in order to defend it. That is to say, these stories enforced me value our freedom and believe that it is the best gift people can be given due to several particular reasons.
Firstly, freedom gives people the right to shape the country they live in the way they want to see it. In other words, in an independent country everyone has a say in who governs the country. Voters have the right to participate in political elections and form the goverment that defends the values that are of crucial importance to them. What is more, citizens have the opportunity to write letters of protest, sign the petitions, take part in a demonstrations and fight for justice and human righs if they are violated.
