Queen Victoria

Alexandrina Victoria was born on 24 May 1819 at Kensington Palace in London. She was the daughter of the Duke of Kent, King William’s brother and a German Princess, Victoria of Saxe-Coburg.
Victoria’s childhood was very lonely besides very boring for the reasons that her father died when she was just a little baby and she didn’t really have any friends to play with. Princess really liked play with dolls, they were her favorite toys. A girl didn’t frequent went out of the fact that her mother was very protective. Alexandrina Victoria grew up with her mother and her very strict German governess, Baroness Lehzen.
One day a Victoria wrote that a girl never had a father, had no brother or sister to live with moreover she didn’t know what a happy home life was.
The young Princess loved animals and had three pets. She had private lessons in many subjects. A girl really enjoyed singing and dancing. At the age of twelve she made a promise that she will be good.
When Victoria was thirteen her mother decided that she must see Britain on top of that the British people must see her. The young Princess was welcomed with enthusiasm everywhere.
On Victoria’s seventeenth birthday her German cousin, Prince Albert came to visit her. Princess liked him immediately. And her mother thought Prince Albert was the ideal husband and Victoria agrees.
On 20 June 1837 died King William IV and Victoria was now the Queen. She was only eighteen. That morning she went to meet her advisers, the Privy Councillors. She spoke and behaved calmly. Everyone admired her. The young Queen now lived far away from her strict mother. She lived at Buckingham Palace.Victoria enjoyed going to the opera also the ballet, and began horse riding.
