Port and Shipping Industry as My Dream Career Path

When I thought of a career in the shipping industry, I automatically thought of living at sea. However, this industry has a wide range of career opportunities, from the sea to ports and corporate jobs. Successful travel requires competent people at sea and on land. In addition to sailors and harbour master, there are seafarers ’lawyers, educators, military, managers, and other skilled workers. Becoming part of this industry was my dream.
Of course, when I was born and raised near the Klaipeda seaport, you understand that it is the most important and largest transport hub in Lithuania, connecting sea, land and railway roads from east to west, which is a multipurpose, deep-water and ice-free port. It is the engine of the state’s economy, as the port has large stevedoring companies, ship repairs and shipyards, as well as all maritime business and stevedoring services. The port and related enterprises create more than 58,000 jobs and account for 6.13% of Lithuania's GDP. It is a promising and powerful industry with educated and professional staff.
