Over-protective parents are harmful for their children

Over-protective parents are strict and aim to shield their children from harm, but sometimes this shield could make more harm, than good. It may cause negative consequences for the psychosocial development of children. ‘Nemo’ movie is a good example of over-protective parenting. In this movie father Marlin was over-protective father so his son tried to get free and swim off to the wide ocean, but that ended up badly for him. This movie clearly reflects my opinion of over-protective parent’s harmfulness.
First of all, the main problem with over-protective parents is that they do not allow their children to be exposed to the real world. Parents try to protect their children from danger and do not let them go outside to play with friends. Their child is jailed at home and cannot meet the real world. Psychologists say, that when these children grow up, they usually do not have any experience at all. For instance, in the movie “Nemo”, Nemo seized the opportunity of his father not being near him and swam off to a forbidden zone, which cannot be swum in. Not having any experience, and not knowing at what risk he is, Nemo got into trouble. To sum up, children growing up in such over-protective families usually want to try something what was forbidden for a long time and get into trouble because of lack of experience.
Furthermore, over-protection will lead to lower social skills in a child. Overprotective parents sometimes not allow children to have friends or hang out with...
