Main economic challenges facing the European Union (EU)

As I am a citizen of European Union, I am really concerned about the future of it. Basically I am most worried about economical future of EU.
First of all, I would like to determine the goals that I think are the most important for European Union at the moment. To begin with, I think that the main goal of external economical EU policy should be to catch up the countries that are doing much better at the moment, I mean USA and Japan. We should regain our economical and political possessions and to become one of the most important players in the world’s market.
To strengthen our positions in the worlds’ market we need to become more competitive, we need to produce better goods, improve services etc. For this I think it’s necessary to have higher numbers of educated scientists and engineers and increase the number of innovations adopted. Furthermore as we are 25 countries (so far) and every country has its’ own language, we need one common language to be able to socialize. Learning languages should be strengthened as well. In order to achieve that EU must pay more attention and money as well to the educational system. In my mind, we have to change whole the educational system. We need to catch up American and Japanese sciences as well. We need to create a real common system that is available for every gifted man to achieve his best results.
And now we face another problem it is border problem. Though today we are 25 member states in the union not all the people can migrate freely in the member states. Most of the new member states have not signed convention of Schengen yet. I think it should be done as soon as possible.
The next step should be extension of EURO...
