• The European Day of Languages is 26th September, as proclaimed by the Council of Europe on 6th December 2001, at the end of the European Year of Languages (2001), which had been jointly organized by the Council of Europe and the European Union.[1] Its aim is to encourage language learning across Europe.

• English is a West Germanic language that was first spoken in early England. English is the third most widespread native language in the world. It's the second language and is either the official language or one of the official languages in almost 60 states.
• English is the most commonly spoken language in the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, Australia, Ireland and New Zealand.
