Task. Some scientists believe that in the future computers will be more intelligent than human beings. While some see this as a positive development others worry about the negative consequences.
Discuss both views and give your opinion.
As artificial intelligence is becoming more and more sophisticated, some scientists speculate that highly intelligent machines may become disastrous or uncontrollable, whilst some of their colleagues have doubts about such outlooks. This essay aims to examine both views and give my own personal opinion.
The key outcome that experts fret is the possibility of being controlled by the highly-sophisticated AI. The potential for this disaster can easily be seen in mankind’s history. Over time, as humans evolved to be highly intelligent and capable of rational thought, the man ascended the animal kingdom’s dominance hierarchy, of which the outcome can be seen in the world today. Thus, as humans outwitted the less intelligent animals and became the dominating species of the planet, a similar outcome could arise if AI were to become as intelligent as its founders. Moreover, even with control over AI, it is still inevitable that blue-collar workers would be replaced by sophisticated machines.
